Prayer for Today

Everlasting and ever-working God, who makest the acorn into the oak and enterest into the rib of the leaf, who lightest stars upon their way, and bringest forth the sun to lift up the heads of flowers, be near also to Thy servant and enable me to walk the whole path of this life – in joy and sorrow, in achievement and failure – without distrust, submissive to Thy will, and assured that, by reliance upon Thee, neither temptation nor mortal loss can overwhelm me, and that all things are secure finally in Thy care and keeping. Amen.

~Read this prayer today over at CoffeeGirl and was so blessed. May this be your prayer today as well.

You're My Best Friend!

On my birthday, Caleb gave me the best gift ever! He climbed up on my lap and told me, "Mama, you're my best friend!" Now isn't that just what every mother wants to hear? It was a huge blessing to me!

A little over a week ago we got a chance to hang out with some of our other "best friends" to share about Uganda! It was a sweet time to invite our close friends to take an active role in what God is doing around the world. We enjoyed a delicious dinner of cheese steaks and seasoned fries, and then we cast God's vision for His people. He calls all of us to be at work in the world- He calls all of us to bless the nations- and He has given us each a specific corner of the world to do that! We had some great discussion about where we are on the spectrum of missions-active vs. missions-inactive... and we all discovered we have miles to go before we get to where God wants us! So there is a challenge laid before us- how will we step it up?

It may take some creativity, and it will definitely take some sacrifice- but I know we can come up with some personal ways to bless the nations, and join God is His kingdom work! What will you do? How are you going to bless the nations this week? Is there any way we can help you? Need some prayer requests to step up your global intercession? Need some book recommendations? Need the mailing address for a missionary on the field? Or maybe you need to call a few friends and start a monthly missions prayer group. I don't know. But I am pretty sure we all can be doing a little more than we currently are! I know I can!

Our next newsletter is percolating... look for it in June... it will have some more ideas of ways you can get more missions-active! Hopefully it will encourage and inspire you to do grand things for God's Kingdom! Send us your address if you did not get our March newsletter and we will add you to our list!

Birthday Extravaganza!

Josh and I both celebrated our birthdays this week- and while getting a year older isn't always fun, we have been so blessed as we've reflected on the goodness of God this past year! As I was driving in our car on Monday I heard this song and it summed up how I have been feeling:

It is time that we give you honor
This is the day to give you
All the praise that you deserve
Yes, it's time to give you honor
This is the day to give you
All the praise that you deserve

A Holy King, of everything
Inhabit the praises of Your people
A Holy King, of everything
Inhabit the praises of Your people

Have we waited far too long to surrender
Forgive us Oh God the years
We failed to seek your face
Oh Lord, your mercy turns us into
Grateful people
We can't seem to find the words
So take our lives that there might be enough
To tell you how grateful
Lord, we are grateful

Thank you for joining us on this journey- it has been a joy to share this past year with you! Can't wait to see all the ways God will show up in the coming year! Are you looking for Him in your own life? Are you grateful for all He has done and all that He is to you? Praying that you can find the tiny whispers of His goodness, and the echoes of His love in each moment of this day!

"If He should set His heart on it, if He should gather to Himself His Spirit and His breath, all flesh would perish together, and man would return to dust." -Job 34:14

We are so dependent on Him. How good of Him to sustain us!
