Silent Night, Holy Night

In February we began a fellowship meeting at our house.  We meet every Thursday with the purpose of building community, encouraging one another on our faith journey, and helping each other engage with our neighbors with the love of Christ.  It has been a great year of fellowship and true community building.

One of the hardest parts of living here is missing our family during the holidays and the Christmas traditions we grew up with.  But the thing about community is that you can welcome them into your traditions.  And so today we gathered with our home fellowship group (and a few others) for a Christmas Eve BBQ.  Having a BBQ on Christmas Eve is not a tradition in NJ but it is certainly one of our new Uganda Christmas traditions.  But one tradition we brought here with us and invited our community to join us in is singing Silent Night by candlelight.  You see, Kelly and I both grew up attending our respective churches Christmas Eve service.  Those services always ended by singing Silent Night by candlelight.  We miss it.  However, we have a community that is always ready to join us in our traditions when we invite them.  Enjoy this short clip of our community singing Silent Night.

Merry Christmas!
