Worship in Heaven

Worship in heaven. Oh, I can't wait! But we must practice here on earth, if we are going to spend an eternity doing it in heaven!!!

Today's readings: Revelation 7, Nehemiah 9:38-10:39, Psalm 102

"After these things I looked and behold, a great multitude which no one could number, of all nations, tribes, peoples and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, with palm branches in their hands, and crying out with a loud voice, saying "Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!" All the angels stood around the throne and the elders and the four living creatures, and fell on their faces before the throne and worshiped God saying, "Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom, thanksgiving and honor and power and might, be to our God forever and ever. Amen" -Revelation 7:9-12

I can just imagine the beauty and diversity we will see in heaven. Sadly, the number of American Christians are declining, while the number of Christians in other parts of the world (Africa, and Asia) are increasing exponentially. So, it will be interesting to see if white americans are in the minority in heaven! Granted, we may not look the same in heaven as we do right now- who knows... but it does say in this passage that the great multitude was made up of nations, tribes, peoples and tongues... so there must be some way to distinguish. And it must be glorious! When I was in Africa one of my favorite things about the african church was their praying and worshiping! They would enter a time of prayer, and everyone would start praying aloud all at the same time. Talk about a symphony of prayer- all of these voices, sometimes different languages, all ascending to the Father! It was amazing! And their worship was so alive! They danced and sang and yelled- all in praise of our God!

If I could picture worship in heaven- I would imagine that it will move and swirl and dance around the air like a gentle breeze on an autumn day- with the sun glistening in the brightly colored leaves.... how do you imagine worship in heaven? How are you practicing for it now? Take some time to worship God. Put on a great worship CD- dance- journal- paint- write a poem- play with your kids- wash the dishes.... all of those things can be done out of worship. So let's get to it! He is worthy!!!

Praising Him today,
Kelly
