Jesus' Heart for the World

I am excited this morning to share a piece of prophecy about Jesus, written by Isaiah- it is a beautiful picture of the coming Christ. God's people had been waiting for the coming Messiah for hundreds of years, and it is our privilege to know the end of the story- the Messiah did come and is now waiting to come again! That is what this advent season is all about! Waiting with expectation, not only the fun of Christmas day, but the second coming of our Lord Jesus!

Isaiah 11

"There shall come forth a Rod from the stem of Jesse, and Branch shall grow out of his roots. The Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Him, the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord... He will set up a banner for the nations, and will assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth..." -Isaiah 11:1-2, 12

I love that even hundreds of years before Jesus arrived, God was telling His people that Jesus would have a heart for the world! Obviously, missions is on my mind recently, but I hope that it ignites a spark within your own heart for God's global purposes! This picture of Jesus is so beautiful- full of the Spirit, wise and understanding, comforting and strong, compassionate and just... with a love for the whole world! Oh, that we would have a small portion of His passion for the lost next door and around the world! If we claim to love Him, we must love what He loves and do what He did. Which is why Josh and I are called to Uganda. We believe that Jesus wants to pour out His love on the people of Uganda- we believe that He longs for His light to shine in the darkest parts of Africa- and we want to be a part of that mission! To gather His precious people from the ends of the earth. How will you get involved in God's great mission to the world? I believe that the greatest gift you could give this year is the gift of surrender to Jesus- telling Him that you want to be part of His mission to the ends of the earth!

With expectancy,
Kelly
