Good Morning, Church!
Today's readings: Revelation 9, Nehemiah 12, Psalm 104:1-23
"Bless the Lord, O my soul! O Lord my God, You are very great: You are clothed with honor and majesty, who cover Yourself with light as with a garment, who stretch out the heavens like a curtain." -Psalm 104:1-2
The Bible is full of word pictures to help us understand qualities of God that are too great for our small minds to comprehend. And while they may help us understand who God is- they are also a great tool for us in worship. What does the image: "He covers Himself with light as with a garment" convey to you? Does it speak of His greatness, His immensity, His beauty, His glory to bright to behold....? Dwell on that image for awhile. What are some other images you like to ponder? God as Father? His word like honey on your lips? God as husband? Or your refuge and fortress in times of trouble? Those are all taken directly from scripture- but today I would like you to create your own word picture for an attribute or trait of God's that you love. Perhaps He has been refreshing you like a cool autumn breeze. Or His presence is comforting like a cup of hot tea. Think about your relationship with God, and everything you love about Him- and then praise Him with a word picture! Every time you get stressed or just simply wander away from Him today, call to mind that image, and allow it to draw you back into His presence. This is how we practice the presence of God in our day to day lives.
Praying that you would "see" Him in a new light today,
Kelly
