homemade missions Day #24

"Therefore as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience." -Colossians 3:12

we're finished our painting project! step one: paint. check!

You can slap another coat of paint on, and arrange those flowers just so- but if the heart of your home (i.e. you) isn't in living connection with Jesus it's all in vain.  All month long we've talked about using our homes as launch pads for missions, but we  I need to go back to the beginning.

The foundation is Jesus.  He has chosen me and loves me dearly (even when I mess up).  He gives abundantly, so I can share the blessings He has given to me.  I need to remember that if my home is to be a launch pad, we need to be living what we're giving.  If I say that this is a place of welcome, hospitality and grace- then I need to extend grace to my children.  I need to use kind words.  I need to act with patience and not fly into a rage when my agenda gets tabled for real, immediate needs.

I don't want my home to be a whitewashed tomb.  I want this to be a place of life, joy and oasis.  It starts with me.  Pray for me, as Jesus and I do some heart work.  Leave a comment and I would love to pray for you too!
